Creating Change.

What change is needed in the world that only you can make?

When I first looked that this question, I thought to myself, me, just one person can’t possibly make any significant change. Any change of significance takes an army of people and lots of support. No matter how great the idea without support there’s no way real change can be made. Then I thought to myself all significant change starts with just one person seeing a problem that needs to be fixed and making changes and creating a ripple effect.

In the short documentary Forest Man Jadav Payeng saw a local problem and thought about how he, just one man, could make a change to try to solve the problem. Through his efforts, he has made great strides to solving the erosion problem on his island. Although he may not have all the support to make bigger changes, he, himself is creating the awareness needed to eventually make the larger changes needed to possibly stop the erosion of his island into the Brahmaputra River.

Looking at the question from the perspective of, small individual effort creates larger significant efforts, makes the question much easier to answer. One way I would create change is to create less waste. Pollution of trash is such a huge problem, as well as the limited supply of resources we have to make disposable products. It may seem like a very small thing by just having one person creating less trash but, the less trash that is created the less that can end up in places that it doesn’t belong. On a local scale it could make a huge difference.
